Has Mona’s Code Been Used Before on Pretty Little Liars?

On Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 7: “Crazy” we learned that Mona (Janel Parrish) has a secret code she can use to convey important info — until last night, only Hanna (Ashley Benson) knew the code (at least as far as we know). Of course, obsessed fans immediately started wondering if they should go back through old episodes to look for other times Mona's "first letter of every word" method may have been used to drop a clue.

Before you break out your DVDs, take a deep breath. A tweet from PLL writer Andy Reaser reveals that, for once, re-watching old episodes won't help you.

Andy tweeted about the code, revealing that "this was [its] first appearance." So while we're going to pay extra close attention to every word that comes out of Mona's mouth from here on out, there's no need to try and decode anything she's said in the past.

Catch an all-new episode of PLL on Tuesday, July 31 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
