American Horror Story Season 2 Spoilers: Updated Cast List — and No Ghosts Allowed
It’s time to update the cast list for American Horror Story Season 2, and we couldn’t be more excited about the creepy lineup. Spoilers abound for those who want to avoid knowing anything about the upcoming season, so be forewarned!
In case you hadn’t heard, AHS Season 2 will take place in the 1960s and focus on an East Coast institute for the criminally insane. Of the original Season 1 cast members returning, Jessica Lange will play the administrator of the institution (who is also a nun), and Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe will all be playing completely different characters. In fact, series creator Ryan Murphy tells TVLine, “People who were enemies last year are allies this year.”
Chris Zylka will be playing the buzzed about role of Daniel, the Most Beautiful Boy in the World (we called it early!). Entertainment Weekly reports that Daniel is also a deaf mute. But, we assume, he can see himself in the mirror, which may be the cause of his insanity.
Mark Consuelos will play a patient named Spivey, according to EW. Joseph Fiennes will play the head of the institution and will also serve as a love interest for Jessica’s character. Clea Duvall has signed on for multiple episodes, but all we know is that she will appear in scenes with Sarah Paulson.
As we previously reported, James Cromwell will play Dr. Arden, who will be an antagonist of Jessica’s; Adam Levine will be one half of The Lovers; Lizzie Brocheré will play a seductress named Gia; and Chloe Sevigny will reportedly play Shelly the Nymphomaniac.
Ryan recently told TV Guide that there will be no ghosts in Season 2 — a huge departure from the first season — but “the story is horrifying.” He continued, "The story is a period piece in a mental institution based largely on truth and truth is always scarier than fiction."
American Horror Story will return in October 2012 on FX.
