Cory Monteith Books a New Action Movie — But Will It Downsize His Time on Glee?
Glee star Cory Monteith(Finn) just keeps adding to his resume! Cory has signed on for a part in the action drama McCanick, alongside Superman himself, Brandon Routh. Right now, Cory’s career is more powerful than a locomotive.
And while this is awesome news, we’re a little nervous about the fact that the film begins shooting in September in Philly. Uh, does this mean Finn will be taking a break from the show midway through the season and will miss a number of episodes — perhaps while he’s overseas with the Army? Or will Cory be able to fit it into his schedule without missing much Glee? Consider us worried.
But the film itself sounds pretty badass! Variety reports that Cory will play a young criminal who is released from prison and knows a dark secret about a veteran cop, so the cop and his partner (Brandon Routh) go to extreme measures to track him down.
Apparently, the film will take place over the course of one crazy, crazy day and will call to mind such gritty ‘70s cop films as Serpico. If you ask us, this sounds like a great chance for Cory to show some range and play someone who is very un-Finn-like.
And did we mention that Cory is a busy guy? We weren’t kidding, since he’s currently filming an indie drama in Canada as we speak! The film is called All the Wrong Reasons and will also star Adam Brody (The OC) and Kevin Zegers (Gossip Girl). That’s a whole lotta hotties in one movie.
