The Vampire Diaries

Michael Trevino Teases Vampire Diaries Season 4: Bullets, Blood, and Shirtless Tyler — Exclusive

The last time we saw Tyler (Michael Trevino) on The Vampire Diaries, it was actually Klaus (Joseph Morgan) masquerading in his hybrid minion’s body. Wetpaint Entertainment spoke to Mr. Trevino at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, and the scene stealer previewed what’s coming up for Season 4. You’ll be happy to know he specifically included “shirtless Tyler” on the list.

Wetpaint Entertainment: You get to be super mean on the next season of Vampire Diaries!
Michael Trevino: I do, for a little bit, yes. I’m playing Klaus and I would like to think that it goes on for a few episodes but I think the run as Klaus might end sooner rather than later.

How do you feel about playing Joseph Morgan?
Well, that’s the thing, I gotta try not to play or mimic Joseph Morgan. He’s a great actor, but more so, Klaus is just a badass, and you can’t touch a guy that’s the strongest, most powerful hybrid in our universe. And if I just play that out, it should come across.

Is Tyler lost forever?
He is not lost forever. I think eventually Tyler will come back into Tyler’s body and we should be all good.

Isn’t this really the best scenario for Caroline (Candice Accola)? Klaus and Tyler in one?
I think so! At the end of the day you would think Caroline would be completely happy and content with everything, but no, not in our world.

Anything you can tease as far as the new season?
Tyler is going to end up going through a lot. There’s going to be a lot of action, a lot of blood. Maybe some bullets, maybe some stakes. But at the end of the day Tyler’s shirtless a good amount of the time.
