Modern Family Cast Resumes Production Amid Salary Demands
Despite the fact that they’re suing their production company, the stars of Modern Family have proven to be quite the professionals!
Adult cast members, Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sofia Vergara, and Ed O’Neill bailed on the show’s table read and seemingly halted production of the hit ABC show earlier this week amid a salary dispute. Today, however, the cast has decided to return to work.
“I can confirm a read is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.,” a rep for 20th Century Fox Television said.
The group’s decision to return to work means that show’s production will carry on as usual — at least for now. Five of the show’s stars will continue with their lawsuit against 20th Century, claiming that their current deals violate California’s “Seven-Year Rule” that prohibits personal service contracts lasting longer than seven years.
Besides Ed O’Neill, who rakes in $100,000 per Modern Family episode, the rest of the castmates earn $60,000 a show. Sources tell E! Online that the group now wants “somewhere in the neighborhood” of $200,000 an episode.
While Season 4 production is no longer delayed, the actors’ demands for more money could result in problems later on.
