Which Shows Will Replace Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Killing on AMC?

With Breaking Bad going off the air next year, Mad Men ending after two more seasons, and The Killing now cancelled, AMC has some tough shoes to fill!

So what does the cable network have planned to replace those three big dramas? So far, murder mysteries, aliens, and lawyers are at the top of the list.

The New York Post reports that AMC just finalized a deal for a new series about Area 51 based on a best-selling book (also titled Area 51) by Annie Jacobsen. The non-fiction tome is an oral history of the super-secret military testing site, and the network says this new show will be set in the 1950s and ’60s and will focus more on the CIA’s role in the notoriously secretive government project.

A pilot is currently being shot for a new crime drama called Low Winter Sun, based on a British TV movie of the same name. The original featured a Dexter-esque storyline of a cop who murders to get revenge and is convinced that he’s committed the perfect crime.

Also in the works is a thriller focused on lawyers and politicians, and the morals and ethics faced by those who operate in these closely-related spheres.

Do you think these new shows can match the popularity of Breaking Bad and Mad Men?
