Drew Lachey on DWTS All-Stars: Runners-Up Will Be the Biggest Competition

Six champions will face three — potentially four — runners-up on Dancing With the Stars All-Stars Season 15. Drew Lachey is one of the champions and he knows the Mirror Ball-free celebs will be anxious to push him out of the way once the season starts on September 24.

“I think the runners-up are the ones to beat because they still have that taste — they still want to win,” Drew told AccessHollywood.com on Friday. “So, the runners-up are going to be the tough ones.”

The stars and pros don’t know their partnerships yet; the official 12 partners will be revealed on August 13 and the 13th contestant will be revealed on August 27. Drew helped pro dancer Cheryl Burke get her first trophy back in 2006, but she has three past partners returning (including her other champion, Emmitt Smith), so Drew knows they may not be re-paired.

“If Cheryl and I dance together, we already know how to work together, we already know how far we can push each other. There’s that history there,” he said. “That being said, with a new partner, there’s a new excitement of different skill sets, different choreography, different styles. So, there [are] pros and cons for both. Whoever gets Cheryl is gonna be happy. But I guarantee you I’ll be set with whoever I get as well!”

Who do you think Drew and Cheryl will be paired with? We’re guessing Gilles Marini will be re-paired with Cheryl — making Gilles the ultimate runner-up threat — but what about Drew?

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
