After all, Derek is best friends with Bristol's Season 11 partner, Mark Ballas, and he'd finally have a real challenge in getting Bristol strong enough to compete alongside so many past champions. And based on what he said to E!, it sounds like Derek would be a good person to have on Bristol's side when it comes to media relations.
Derek talked to E! about the not-so-positive press that tends to follow Bristol Palin. "Unfortunately with the Palin drama and crazy entertainment it's brought to the United States, I suppose it comes with the territory," Derek said. "But I think, good for her — good for her to put herself out there because it's really easy to kind of hibernate and just to disappear."
Bristol recently told reporters why she decided to do All-Stars. "You're going to talk about me if I'm in my little life in Alaska or if I'm in L.A., so I might as well just have fun with it."
As Derek interpreted that, "She's saying, 'I'm going to go out there and do my thing and if you don't like it, then fine!'" he said.
Yeah, Derek would be a good ambassador for Team Palin. Do you think he would enjoy the challenge of making Bristol great or should he be paired with someone else?
Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT onABC.
