Miley Cyrus’s Home Swarmed By Police in Elaborate Kidnapping Hoax

Last night, Miley Cyrus’s Los Angeles home was swarmed by fire and rescue squads, a chopper, and a swarm of LAPD officers with guns drawn — but she wasn’t even there.

"We responded to a call of a kidnapping in progress, one person shot,” Sgt. Jim Parker told Good Morning America. “We checked the residence; there was nobody home. We believe it was a prank call at this time.”

This dangerous version of a prank call, known as “swatting,” is a surprisingly common occurrence. According to Good Morning America, there are hundreds of cases in which “bogus calls are made in an attempt to get SWAP cops to bust down doors of innocent people.”

And while Miley is currently safe and sound with fiance Liam Hemsworth on the Philadelphia set of his new movie, the prank caller won’t be so lucky.

"It's not just bad, it is a crime," one police officer explained "And if we find out who it is, we will arrest them and prosecute them."
