"Whoever I get paired up with, I'll be grateful and I'll work my best to make sure that they do well,” Val told Access Hollywood. Yes, he admits he's being politically correct. He has been told (probably by his brother Maksim Chmerkovskiy and other pros) not to say with whom he'd like to be paired, 'cause what if he doesn't get that person?
There are six past champions returning for Season 15, but Val doesn't necessarily think they have an advantage. "People get another chance. Every season is different. Every teacher has a different approach, different choreography. It's just going to be different, regardless. A lot of time has passed. I know Kelly Monaco's coming back but it's been seven years, literally, since she competed. A lot of time passed by. [Drew Lachey], Season 2, also roughly six and a half years passed by. So they were winners but I feel like the show definitely progressed — and a lot of the past non-winners, I would say, were arguably better than some of the winners." We agree.
Access noted that “Kelly Monaco” just rolled off his tongue there. A partnership hint? "Bristol Palin rolls off pretty well too!" Val said, laughing "I'll be good with whoever, like I said. It's funny but Bristol gets a lot of heat..."
Does she have a chance against so many past champions? "I think Bristol has a chance,” Val said. “Like I said, if I'm paired up with Bristol I'll be happy. I'll do my best. I'll make anybody dance, really."
Access wants him with Pamela Anderson, and she was our pick for him too, but we'll see who he gets when the couples are announced on August 13.
