Jill Zarin’s Daughter Has Been Wearing Shapewear Since She Was 13: Is It Bad for Teens?

Former Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin is sticking by her Skweez Couture shapewear line, which was designed with teens in mind. One surprising long-time supporter of the product is her own daughter, nineteen-year-old Ally Shapiro.

In a new video from ABC about the potential dangers of shapewear, Ally admits, “I’ve been wearing it since I was 13, I’ll probably will wear it ‘til I’m 63, I dunno. It’s just out there, and it’s necessary.”

Jill added, “What I think shapewear does is sort of normalizes the girls’ body figures.”

The video documents the new trend of teens wearing shapewear. A physician notes that there are possible negative consequences to continually squeezing one’s body with binding clothing, but Jill and Ally are standing firm in full support of the Skweez. “They have been selling like wildfire. We can’t keep them in stock,” Jill boasted.

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
