Lea Michele Reveals Her Diet and Fitness Secrets: “I Love Biking”
If you’ve ever had trouble maintaining a certain diet, fear not: Glee star Lea Michele(Rachel) knows what it’s like! Lea says she goes “back and forth” between being a vegan and a vegetarian, as either choice is a “really big commitment.” Then again, whatever she’s doing seems to be working, since she always looks so fab!
Does Lea think that everyone should be a vegetarian? Not really. The actress she tells Shape that “you really need to kind of listen to your body.” For Lea, this means that though she was a full-blown vegan for two years, she’s now just a vegetarian. Yet somehow we’re still guessing Lea Michele’s body never tells her to eat marshmallow fluff straight out of the jar like ours does.
Lea doesn’t believe in following dieting trends, and instead thinks that people should “do what you believe in and what your body is telling you that it needs.” She also likes to “try lots of different things” in her diet.
And while she’s fairly careful about what she eats, she’s not quite as rigid with her gym routine, partly because she gets so much exercise during Glee’s elaborate dance numbers. In fact, she reportedly lost ten pounds in 2009, in part because of the strenuous choreography. As of now, “working out for me is something I do when I feel like it,” she says of maintaining her tiny physique. If only we could also be so lucky!
However, Lea manages to find ways to make exercise fun, meaning that she goes to the gym but also gets exercise in more creative ways, like hiking. She says, “I love being outside, I love biking — just stuff that’s fun!”
And speaking of biking, if we ever saw Lea and her boyfriend Cory Monteith(Finn) together on tandem bike, we would probably die instantly from cuteness overload. (And yes, “cuteness overload” is a real disease. Trust us.)
