Real Housewives of New York

Carole Calls Out LuAnn on Offensive “Indian” Comments – Whose Side Are You On?

On this week’s episode of Real Housewives of New York, Cool Carole Radziwill and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps had yet another little argument when Carole took offense to LuAnn’s use of the word “Indian” when talking about Native Americans and Aboriginal Canadians.

Carole felt that using the term “Indian” was outdated and offensive to a group that had “been discriminated against.” LuAnn thought that the term was perfectly appropriate and that since she’s part Aboriginal Canadian, she should be allowed to use whatever term she wants. She topped off the argument by making a “woo-hoo-hoo-hoo” sound and telling her dinner companions that they better “watch their scalps.”

While some of the table members agreed with Carole, LuAnn seemed offended that Carole would even be offended. (Or maybe she’s still feeling hurt from Carole’s comments about her being a one-upper?) We’re inclined to go with Carole on this one, although we don’t know if we would have called LuAnn out on it in the middle of a dinner. Then again, we don’t go to a ton of dinner parties with Bravo cameras recording our every move, so we don’t know what we would do.

Do you think LuAnn’s “Indian” comments was offensive, or just misguided? Vote below!

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
