NBC Strikes Back Against Sharon Osbourne Discrimination Claims
NBC is speaking out on former America’s Got Talent judge Sharon Osbourne’s claims of the network’s discrimination against her son Jack Osbourne.
Yesterday, it was announced that Sharon quit AGT because she thinks the network canned Jack from Stars Earn Stripes due to his recent multiple sclerosis diagnosis. “I just can’t be fake … It’s discrimination, and it was badly handled," Sharon said. After the news of Sharon’s departure from AGT first dropped, a rep for NBC said,“Sharon has been a valuable part of the NBC family. We regret any misunderstanding and wish Jack well.”
According toThe Hollywood Reporter, the network is taking their response a step further today and has now denied any discrimination and aims to set the record straight on the matter of Jack’s removal from SES.
NBC’s Bob Greenblatt issued the following statement on the matter: "First, we have the deepest affection for Sharon Osbourne and consider her to be part of the NBC family. And our hearts go out to her, Ozzy, Jack, and his family at this time. We hold medical information in strict confidence and therefore cannot comment specifically about Jack, but as a company that cares deeply about the health and safety of everyone on our shows — especially one like STARS EARN STRIPES that requires dangerous water stunts, strenuous physical activity, and uses live ammunition — we required all potential participants to undergo medical vetting to ensure that they could safely participate… Although we did not ask Jack to participate in the competition, we were able to offer him two substantial alternative roles on the show, both of which he declined… This network does not discriminate on any basis."
