Keri Russell to Return to TV on FX’s The Americans: Felicity Is a KGB Agent Now
So long love triangle, hello Cold War.
Two years after FOX pulled the plug on her comedy Running Wilde and 10 years after Felicity wrapped its four-season run, Keri Russell is heading back to TV on The Americans, a new FX drama.
Set to premiere early next year, The Americans follows two married KGB agents living in Washington, D.C. in the 1980s. Keri will play Elizabeth Jennings, the female half of the espionage-oriented relationship, and Matthew Rhys will play her husband, Phillip. Although their marriage and two children (who don’t know their parents’ true identities) are merely a front, the two spies grow closer as time passes.
The dramatic tension comes in the form of a sudden haircut Phillip’s growing appreciation for American living and the arrival of a new neighbor, an FBI agent.
Keri isn’t the only Felicity alum with a new show lined up: Scott Speedman (Ben) is starring on ABC’s Last Resort, set to premiere this fall, and Scott Foley (Noel) will bring the laughs on FOX’s The Goodwin Games when it kicks off at midseason.
Why they couldn’t all have been on the same show is beyond us, but we’ll take what we can get.
