Too Gay For Grey? Writer Bret Easton Ellis Claims Matt Bomer Can’t Play Christian Grey Because of His Sexual Orientation
In 2010, Newsweek released a controversial article citing the drawbacks of gay actors playing straight characters.
The piece received tons of flack from audiences and celebs, but apparently writer Bret Easton Ellis missed the memo.
Though the American Psycho writer has been denied the opportunity to pen the Fifty Shades of Grey film script, he still feels the need to tweet his all-too-frequent thoughts on the highly discussed upcoming adaptation.
Yesterday, Bret went on a Twitter rant about Magic Mike star Matt Bomer’s inability to play the lead character, Christian Grey, due to his sexual orientation.
He went on to defend his comments saying:
Mr. Ellis, we beg to differ. Not only does Matt Bomer make our mouths water, but his ability to convincingly play the extremely straight Neal Caffrey on White Collar proves your argument is invalid.
We didn’t agree with Newsweek’s argument back in 2010 and we certainly don’t see validity in yours, especially after watching that beautiful body bump and grind in Magic Mike.
Matt Bomer is an incredibly talented actor who happens to be openly gay, but that shouldn’t affect his chances for nabbing this coveted role.
Matt, you can seduce us any day!
