50 Shades of Grey: Should Matt Bomer Star as Christian?

Most Glee fans couldn’t help but swoon when Matt Bomer showed up in Season 3 as Blaine’s (Darren Criss) dashing older brother, Cooper. Then we got a look at him as that sexy, shirtless stripper in Magic Mike and our jaws pretty much hit the floor. Saying that Matt Bomer has sex appeal is like saying that emotional women sometimes crave chocolate. Understatement of the century.

Yet when it comes to the much-hyped casting search for who should play billionaire sexual dynamo Christian Grey in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie, one very loud voice has emerged saying that Matt wouldn’t have a chance at landing the role.

Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay,” writer Bret Easton Ellis tweeted on August 8. “He's great for other roles but this is too big a game.

Bret has been vocal about the movie on Twitter for some time, and he even hoped to be chosen to write the screenplay, before recently announcing that he’s been “taken off the list” of possible screenwriters.

Losing the gig hasn’t stopped his flurry of Grey-related tweets, including a August 8 assertion that Matt Bomer could never get the part because, “Fifty Shades of Grey demands an actor that is genuinely into women.”

He continued, “I like Matt Bomer. I think Matt Bomer is sexy and a good actor. Do I think he'll be discriminated against regarding 50 Shades of Grey? Yes.”

He’s given his two cents on the issue, now we want to know what you think? Are you hoping to see Matt in the role of Christian Grey, or do you think that Bret has a point about all the Hollywood bias?

This HAS to happen!

I always pictured someone else.
