Pharrell Williams a Top Contender for American Idol Judging Spot: Report

It may seem like the American Idol show-runners are having a hard time deciding who will fill the emptied Season 12 judging chairs, but according to the New York Daily News, a decision may now be unveiled.

A source close to Pharrell Williams says the rapper/singer/producer will be hitting up Idol auditions later this month in preparation for snagging one of the empty judging slots. Reportedly, the performer is “super tight with Mariah [Carey] and Randy [Jackson]” and has been in negotiations for the gig for weeks.

Idol reps issued “no comment” on the matter. But with Brad Paisley, Nick Jonas, and Alanis Morissette also rumored to be working things out with Idol execs, we have a feeling some big announcements are on the horizon!
