When Are the DWTS All-Stars Allowed to Start Practicing?

The 12 All-Stars celebrities have their pro partners now, so you’d think they’d be hard at work, practicing for Dancing With the Stars Season 15.

Nope! The pairs were revealed Monday, but we still have to wait for the final 13th couple to arrive, and they won’t be named until August 27. If the 12 known couples start rehearsing before then, they will have an even bigger advantage over the final pair.

Derek Hough talked to E! about All-Stars and they asked if there was a rule about when the 12 known couples can start dancing. "There is," Derek answered. "August 30. We start practicing August 30. So we don't practice for another two weeks."

Derek said he’s not even sure how much they can strategize with their partners until then. He’s dancing with Shawn Johnson, who won with Derek’s best friend Mark Ballas back on Season 8. Derek said they just found out their partners and Mark hasn’t really told him much about Shawn, so he doesn’t feel like there’s an advantage from that angle.

What do you think about this two-week wait to rehearse?

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
