Is American Idol Phillip Phillips Butting Heads With His Record Label?

UPDATE: Phillip stated via Twitter this morning that he has no beef with his label, 19 Entertainment.

"[T]here is no battle between the label and I..just making it clear ha just a whole bunch of internet say so," the singer tweeted.

American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips is prepping his debut album (which is due this winter), but a new report indicates that he might not be getting his way with record label 19 Entertainment.

Phillip’s been engaging in some interesting Twitter behavior lately. His tweets about artistic integrity may have something to do with an advertisement soliciting songs that are “fresh,” “uplifting,” and “radio-friendly” of the David Cook and Paul McDonald persuasion. Most importantly, the ad wanted “nothing moody or introspective.”

Phillip then re-tweeted 19 Entertainment talent manager Nathan Porter, who wrote “Pro-aritst [sic] or pro-corporation.” Phillip also tweeted, “I like moody songs that have meaning….makes you think.”

Could Phillip be at war with his label already? Whatever’s going on, we hope it works out because we can’t wait to hear what he’ll put out next!
