Report: Kristen Stewart-Less Snow White and the Huntsman Sequel Planned — Would You Watch Without Her? (UPDATE)
Update: Universal has released a statement denying The Hollywood Reporter's claims that Kristen Stewart will not appear in a possible Snow White and the Huntsman sequel. Co-Chairman Donna Langley says, “We are extremely proud of Snow White and the Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false.” (Deadline)
Original story: Times are tough for Kristen Stewart.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Universal has put the brakes on an actual Snow White and the Huntsman sequel, deciding instead to put their energy into a Huntsman-only spin-off film.
One source told The Hollywood Reporter that Rupert Sanders, the married Snow White director with whom Kristen had the affair, will return for the spin-off, but there's been no other confirmation. Sources tell both The Hollywood Reporter and E! that Snow White screenwriter David Koepp has definitely been dropped from the new project.
Was this change in strategy connected to the cheating scandal, or did the execs at Universal just decide that Chris Hemsworth's abs are more marketable than Kristen with a sword?
The Hollywood Reporter's sources say that the original plan was always to do two films with Snow White, and a third that was Huntsman-focused, so it's definitely possible that the bigwigs simply decided to cut the middle act and skip ahead. On the other hand, the timing seems awfully coincidental...
All Universal's rep would say is "the studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise."
So, would you watch a Snow White and the Huntsman spin-off without Kristen Stewart, or is there no point without the titular beauty?
