Pretty Little Liars Betrayal: Why Hanna Could Be on the “A” Team
We know that pointing towards one of the Little Liars as the highly anticipated betrAyer is a long shot, but Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King has always warned fans that anything is possible in Rosewood.
Here are a few reasons why Hanna might be on the “A” team.
Recon mission. As we pointed out with Emily, Hanna may want to get to the bottom of the “A” mystery so badly that she infiltrates the team without telling her friends. Just because Hanna isn’t the brightest of bulbs doesn’t mean that she isn’t smart about people. She may have figured that becoming one of the "A" team meant she could learn everything, including how to stop them.
Pressure from the Liars. Throughout Season 3, Aria, Spencer (Troian Bellisario), and Emily have put pressure on Hanna to turn against Mona (Janel Parrish). After all, Mona is the original “A.” But despite all the evidence, Hanna remained resistant to turning Mona into a villain. Could Hanna have decided that it would just get the girls off her back if she pretended she was fine with hating on Mona, while secretly joining her?
Those Radley visits. Hanna has spent more than any of the Liars with Mona in Radley Sanitarium. And we haven’t seen every single visit firsthand. Behind the closed doors of a mental asylum, Mona could have been recruiting Hanna towards the dark side. Hanna has always wanted to see the best in Mona, so joining her could be her first step towards atonement.
Let’s face it. Hanna is gullible. Hanna’s ditzy nature is one of the things we love the most about her. But without Aria’s analytic mind and Spencer’s self-protective instincts, Hanna can wear her heart on her sleeve. That makes her vulnerable to bad people appealing to her kind nature.
Hanna wants revenge. Hanna arguably has the biggest stake in getting revenge — whether it’s on the “A” team, Alison (Sasha Pieterse), or even the Liars. Hanna was completely fooled by Mona’s “A” game. Maybe she figures that, if you can’t beat the “A” team, join the “A” team.
Do you think Hanna could possibly be the betrAyer?
