True Blood’s Kristin Bauer van Straten on Pam’s Bitchiness, Being a Gay Icon, and More!
Kristin Bauer van Straten's character on True Blood has become an absolute fan favorite throughout the past five seasons. Whether Pam is delivering one of her snippy snide comments or simply prancing around Fangtasia in a pleather corset, she's continually pleasing her fans while acquiring legions of new ones.
Kristin was kind enough to answer a series of fan questions recently on HBO.com, and she dished about her experience playing the elusive and alluring Pamela Swynford De Beaufort.
"I openly love it!" she said about her character's bitchiness. "I think we all have that side to us that would like to say it like it is. Who think the thought but edit because we know it's rude, or want to be liked … but Pam doesn't worry about either and it is fun and refreshing."
What's also refreshing to Kristin is her status as an icon in the gay community.
"I love it," she affirmed. "I went and spoke for the Human Rights Campaign and so much love was poured back to me. I cried and cried — I think seven times in my speech. I always cry a lot but that was even more than my normal. Very sweet to get such support and I really appreciate it."
And, of course, fans just had to know about the infamous yellow Walmart sweatsuit she slept in this season after turning Tara into a vampire. Surprisingly, the frock is still in her possession … but not for long!
"I am going to auction it to fund my documentary on African elephant ivory poaching that I'm off to shoot in 10 days!" she said. "Or I will put it up on my Kickstarter that's up now."
That is an item we would definitely save our pennies to bet on!
