Dancing With The Stars

Tristan MacManus: How Dancing With Pamela Anderson Will Be “Very Different”

Everyone’s favorite Irish Lucky Charm, Tristan MacManus, is competing on Dancing With the Stars Season 15 All-Stars with Pamela Anderson, who is currently the only non-finalist on Season 15. (If either Carson Kressley or Sabrina Bryan is voted in as the 13th contestant, Pam will have company.)

Pamela took sixth place with Damian Whitewood back on Season 10. So, unlike most of the other pros, Tristan’s not only dancing with a new partner, but he wasn’t even on the show when his partner danced before. This will only be his third competitive season, having started on Season 13 with Nancy Grace, followed by Season 14 with Gladys Knight.

Tristan answered a bunch of questions from the fans at in multiple videos for DublinDown330. At the start of the first video, which is almost 10 minutes of Tristan chatting away in his adorable Irish accent, he was asked how he expects dancing with Pamela will be different from dancing with Nancy and Gladys.

"I'd imagine it's going to be very different,” Tristan said. “The main difference, I guess, is that Pamela is coming in after she's already been on the show, so I suppose she has an idea of how the show is run … I suppose with Nancy and Gladys, being their first time, you're really taking everything as it comes straightaway.”

Tristan hopes Pamela’s experience will lead her to be more advanced, right out of the gate.

“I suppose how Nancy and Gladys were maybe after five or six weeks I'd hope that Pamela would be like that coming in for Week 1,” Tristan said. “But Pamela is quite similar to both of them in the sense that she's very determined to do well. She wants to do well for herself this time."

He said he won't have to "un-teach" anything. He's not expecting any of Pamela's dancing knowledge to be retained from 2010, but if anything is retained it can only be a benefit. He's known her past partner, Damian Whitewood, for a long time and he knows he would've only taught her "a lot of good things."

Tristan won't really know what Pam will be like until they start rehearsing. According to Derek Hough, the couples aren't allowed to practice until August 30, after the final contestant is named.
