But this season won’t be all about Ted; in fact, we’ll be seeing a lot more of Barney and Robin — including everything leading up to wedding bells — and a few old faces returning to New York.
Read on for our spoiler roundup from across the ‘net, and then weigh in: Are you excited for the HIMYM premiere?
Robin has a baby: For the night, at least. Executive producer Craig Thomas spilled to TVLine that he is “very interested to see what Robin Scherbatsky would be like for three hours with a baby.” Although she can’t have kids of her own, Craig said that Barney and Robin will get engaged this season, even if we don’t see their wedding in Season 8.
And speaking of the baby...: We’re going to see Marvin Eriksen at, waitforit … 2, 6, and 13! Zap2it reports that Episode 4 is titled “The Bro Code for Parents”, and we’ll see the little guy receiving advice from his three godparents during different stages of his life. E! Online also adds that Marshall and Lily will be on the search for a nanny, which will either end in Robin babysitting or hilarious antics — one potential sitter is a “trashy web-cam connoisseur,” after all — or maybe even both!
First look at Barney and Robin’s wedding: How many Eriksens does it take to stop Barney from jumping out a window? Apparently two. Entertainment Weekly posted a photo of the groom-to-be trying to escape the wedding in a flashforward, and Craig dished, “We go deeper into [Barney and Robin's] wedding day than we’ve ever gone before. We’re going to show the fans a glimpse of something that we hope will blow their minds.”
Returns and new characters galore: In addition to True Blood’s Joe Manganiello reprising his role as Brad for a multi-episode arc and Victoria sticking around, TVLine reports that we’ll also be seeing Bob Odenkirk as Marshall’s Goliath National Bank boss, Arthur Hobbs, in Episode 2 when he “pseudo-represents Barney in his pre-nup negotiations with Quinn.” Oh yeah — Quinn and Barney are still engaged. Whoops! Reno 911’s Thomas Lennon will also pop up as Victoria’s fiance, probably crying after she abandons him at the altar.
How I Met Your Mother returns on Monday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Be sure to check back for all of Wetpaint Entertainment's HIMYM coverage leading up to the Season 8 premiere!
