Well, stop the music 'cause it's time for a girl fight. TMZ claims Nicki may indeed be a judge but it will be at the expense of Mariah, who supposedly hung up the phone when she was told Nicki was the top judge candidate.
TMZ was told by Idol sources that Mimi expected to be the only woman on the judges' panel. In an extra bit of sexism, TMZ reports, "we're told some of the honchos believe it's a mistake to have 2 women and a man on the panel, and a 4th male judge would be necessary."
Yes, heaven forbid we mess with the "token female" setup. What if the ladies get the vapors and there aren't enough strong men around to balance out their hormones? (Insert eye roll.)
Sexism not enough? How about racism? TMZ continued, "Sources connected with the show say they're worried ... if the judge's end up being Mariah, Nicki and Randy [Jackson]... middle America might not welcome the blackout."
Give Middle America credit — they'll probably be too busy getting upset that the judges are either 1) boring; 2) criticizing their favorite singer; 3) not criticizing their least favorite singer; or 4) preening and making the show about themselves instead of giving sold criticism and constructive feedback to the contestants. Remember the contestants? Remember when we pretended this show was about them?
What do you want to happen? Do you want both Mariah and Nicki on the panel? With Randy? With someone else? With two men? How about an all-female panel? Is that one way to help a girl win Idol for the first time since Jordin Sparks or would that doom the women completely?
