Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Final Divorce Report: About $5M in Child Support — and That’s It!
Now that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are officially divorced, TMZ has details on their quickie settlement.
Tom is worth an estimated $250 million, but Katie has never come across as a gold-digger — which is good, since it doesn't sound like she or Suri will be getting that much. It's more than most moms probably get in a settlement, but most moms don't marry superstars like Tom Cruise.
According to the figures quoted by TMZ, Tom must pay Katie $400,000 a year, or just over $33,000 a month, and it will be paid by electronic transfer. Tom has to pay until Suri turns 18, 12 years from now, so that's a total bill of $4.8 million. That's a lot less than Katie reportedly could've gotten. (And she gets no spousal support at all.)
TMZ added that Tom also has to pay Suri's medical, insurance, education and extracurricular costs. So that's not included in the agreement.
Is it a good thing that Katie didn't demand more money, the way some celeb parents do? She's out there right now, reviving her career to earn her own keep — she has a Broadway play coming up, a new showing at New York Fashion Week and a surprise reading this past weekend in Williamstown, MA. Maybe she doesn’t want Suri to grow up too pampered and spoiled.
