Did Us Weekly Pay Jef Holm’s Brother For The Emily Maynard Cheating Story?

Jef Holm seemingly has it all: iconic hair, a beautiful fiancee, a picture-perfect family, and several million dollars to his name — not to mention his booming on-trend company, People Water. Proposing to Emily Maynard in The Bachelorette Season 8 finale, all of America swooned while watching the hipster prince get his fairytale ending with his ABC princess. And then Us Weekly’s August 23, 2012 issue hit doorsteps and newsstands around the world, stamping a big fat question mark on Emily and Jef’s happy ending.

In the issue, an unnamed source described a heart-wrenching scenario: While on vacation in South Carolina with his entire family, Jef discovered salacious texts between Emily and a mystery man. Painting an incredibly detailed picture, including how the family allegedly had to remove Ricki from the room, the source seemed to come from within Jef’s family.

And it was. On Thursday, following Jef and Emily’s adamant denial of the cheating allegations, Us Weekly revealed their source to be Jef’s brother, Mike Holm. Jef followed up with another denial to People, ominously stating, “If everybody knew the history he had with our family, no one would be surprised.”

Fans, incredulous that a family member had sold Jef out, began to wonder if Us Weekly paid Mike Holm for the story. Turns out: Mike wasn’t paid a dime, according to Reality Steve, who says: “Mike was NOT paid to confirm the story to Us Weekly,” adding, “It went on the cover, which means they think they’ve got something.” Sounds like this story is far from over.
