Glee Season 4 Music Spoiler: Jacob Artist Reveals Jake Puckerman’s First Song
Are you as curious as we are to hear how Puck’s (Mark Salling) younger brother Jake will sound tackling a Glee number? Well, we won’t have to wait long!
Jacob Artist, who will be joining the cast in the Season 4 premiere as Jake Puckerman, tells Ryan Seacrest that he’ll be singing in his very first episode — no pressure! “I’m singing ‘Never Say Never‘ by The Fray, which is a beautiful song,” Jacob says. “I actually sang it for the audition [to get on Glee].” We can’t wait!
Frankly, we’re kind of shocked that it’s taken this long to hear a song by The Fray on the show. It will also be interesting to hear Jacob take on a piano ballad, since his brother Puck was known for more rocking, often edgy numbers, like “Fat Bottomed Girls” or “Hot For Teacher.” It sounds like the two bros will indeed be quite different after all.
We’re also curious as to what the context might be for this song. The chorus has the refrain, “Don’t let me go,” which could mean Jake will get a love interest right away. Or the song could be about his family, since we know that the Puckerman household is not the most functional one in the world. Then again, maybe this is just what Jake will choose to audition for New Directions.
Whichever it is, that September 13 premiere can’t get here fast enough.
