Pretty Little Liars Producer Oliver Goldstick Talks Finale “BetrAyer” and Their Possible Future – Exclusive
The Pretty Little LiarsSeason 3 summer finale (Season 3, Episode 12: “The Lady Killer”) is only 12 hours away! While the episode is quickly approaching, we still have a lot of questions about the betAyal and how that person is linked to Alison and Maya’s murder and the rest of the “A” team. Wetpaint Entertainment sat down with producer Oliver Goldstick to discuss the connections between the betrAyer and the rest of the story.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What can you say about this betrAyal and betrAyer that we're going to come face to face with in the finale? Oliver Goldstick: Well, [Episode 3.11] was a lead up to a big ramp, and you'll get some real ideas. You learn that Paige had a history with Alison and it's quite shocking that she's never mentioned this. In retrospect, it's supposed to make us question a lot of the behavior and interaction we've seen the last couple years with Paige in particular, but other folks as well. I would just say to you, there's been some very strong alliances made over this season that are really going to be called to question with some of the things that are exposed in the finale. I'll just say that a relationship that you thought you could possibly trust is really imperiled by new information.
So this is going to be a shocker. It's not something we would have seen coming necessarily? I don't know if you'll see it coming. Maybe you have. There are those who are very keen. They watch things over and over, and maybe they will pick up on certain hints that have been dropped along the way. But I think many people will be like, “Oh, my, I wish I'd seen that coming. I want to watch those episodes again.” You'll have to go back and watch and see where the cracks in the armor happened.
And this betrayer is the same person who killed Maya? Yes, possibly.
Will this person who is going to betray them all be around when we come back either for Halloween or next spring? I just can't comment on that yet. It's very cryptic, but I can't comment on that yet. We do say in Rosewood because there are flashbacks, nobody ever dies. Bianca [Lawson] asks, “When am I coming back? Who's going to have the memory this time?” Whoever dies in this show, you're coming back somehow in someone's memory.
What about Garrett? Are we going to circle back to that now that we know that he didn't kill Alison? Yeah. Very much so. He's been cleared of Alison, but the PLLs don’t even believe he’s innocent of that, but I think Halloween will be a revelatory episode with Garrett, where you learn a lot more.
