So far, so good, right? But then the Interwebs intervened.
Upon hearing of the TSwift sweeps, users of website 4Chan nominated Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a historic Boston institution and the oldest school of its kind in the country. And now the school is one of the frontrunners in the competition.
Those responsible probably assumed that Taylor’s performance would be lost on the kids, but they could very well enjoy the concert.
As one Reddit user commented, “I used to volunteer with deaf people. There were concerts designed for deaf people, [with] speakers under the floor and everyone holding a balloon in their hands. I’m not deaf myself, but from the reactions I could tell they were able to enjoy the music.”
Plus, what tween wouldn’t want to see a pop star in person? And Horace Mann would definitely appreciate the cash prize.
So far, 10,000 Facebook users have voted for the school — with both good and bad intentions.
If the school wins, Taylor could find herself headed to Boston to perform to her most unique concert yet.
