American Idol

Jessica Sanchez Tapped to Perform at Democratic National Convention

American Idol might have nothing to do with politics, but that hasn’t stopped its stars from getting in on the election season madness!

Idol alums Taylor Hicks, Danny Gokey, and Ayla Brown all performed at this week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. Now Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez is slated to sing for Team Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 5th.

The 17-year-old singer tweeted about the coming appearance, saying, “I might not be old enough to vote, but I'm so honored and excited to perform at @BarackObama's big party in Charlotte next week!#DNC2012!”

Jessica got an endorsement from President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines, but Barack himself didn’t publicly take any sides on her hotly-contested Idol race. Sounds like she’s not holding it against the Commander in Chief!
