American Idol

Phillip Phillips Debut Album Release Date Pushed Back to Early 2013 (VIDEO)

We were super eager about the upcoming release of Phillip Phillips’s first album, which was originally expected to drop in November or December. But now it looks like we’ll have to be patient for a little while longer.

The American Idol Season 11 winner appeared on 95.5 WPLJ recently and chatted about his album construction process, saying that things are moving along well enough.

“I’ve been writing and just trying to record a little bit, but a lot of the recording won’t be going down until after the tour is over,” said Phillip.

While he’s got anywhere from 40 to 50 songs already written, Phillip said that it looks like it’ll be early 2013 before the final product hits shelves.

“I mean, I’ve got the rough recording, just acoustic… It’s probably going to come out in January or February,” he explained. “They want to give me some time to really make an album that represents me, so hopefully people will stick around to check it out.”

The good news is that when his record does finally come out, it’ll include all P2 original songs or some of which he has at least co-written.

“I like to have a connection to the song,” Phillip said.
