Report: Cory Monteith Gets Sick, Glee Season 4 Production Shuts Down for a Day

On Thursday morning, when Blake Jenner tweeted, “Time to get this day started. AHHHH!” — we immediately wondered if the Glee Project winner was about to begin his first day on the set Glee.

You see, a tweet from Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Beiste) confirms that Glee is starting work on Season 4, Episode 5, and that is the same episode in which Blake’s new character, Ryder, is scheduled to make his big debut.

But when Blake tweeted later that afternoon that he was heading out on a hike, we began to suspect that his first day on Glee may not have happened at all. Now, we just might have a pretty good reason as to why.

RumorFix reports that production on Glee Season 4 shut down for the entire day on Thursday, August 30, due to the health woes of one Cory Monteith (Finn).

According to RumorFix’s unnamed insider, Cory had “an intestinal problem.” A rep from Glee tells the site, “It happens from time to time — what we try to do is rearrange the work so we can shoot around the talent. But in this case, Cory was in all of the scenes.

Creator Ryan Murphy has already told fans on Twitter that he is writing “lots of great scenes” for Finn and new guy Ryder, it seems entirely possible that Thursday could have been Blake’s first day, after all.

Not to worry, though: RumorFix reports that from what they understand, production on Glee resumed on Friday. That same day, music producer Alex Anders tweeted, "@CoryMonteith Good having you in the studio today bro. Great job!" We hope Cory will be feeling 100% better soon!
