Bachelor Pad 3’s Ed Swiderski — 5 Things You Need to Know
The third season of Bachelor Pad looks like it’s everything we could have ever hoped for: beautiful people, backstabbing, and hookups galore. Adding to the intrigue is in inclusion of Bachelorette Season 5 winner Ed Swiderski, who — despite saying he’d never consider going on Bachelor Pad — shows up to the Pad, guns blazing, ready to win. Though things didn’t work out with his engagement to Bachelorette Jillian Harris, Ed is still very much a contender. Need a refresher course on this blue-eyed Chicagoan? We’ve got you covered.
Fans of The Bachelorette might recall that Ed left filming to tend to issues with work — essentially choosing his career over his pursuit of love. And while at the time we were thinking his priorities were backwards, his valiant return to the show — FTW! — proved that he knew what he was doing. However, Ed’s website claims that now he’s an “entrepreneur at heart,” having since left his job at Microsoft to lead start-up Kambio Group, a computing consulting firm in Chicago.
2. He wrote the book on Pinterest — no, really.
Ed co-wrote Pintrest for Business, a book all about how small businesses can capitalize on the widely popular social platform loved by housewives over. The thought of Ed trolling through boards upon boards of home decor and gluten-free recipes? Exhilarating.
Baseball, football, basketball — if Chicago has a home team, Ed will probably be at the game.
4. He’s humble about his reality TV fame. You’ve heard it before, but it bears repeating — Bachelor contestants never seem to fully grasp the extent of their post-show fame until they’re done with the show. Ed tells us, “Typically, the people that go on the programs, any reality shows, I don’t think they realize what kind of opportunities they might have until afterward.” Even though he’s used his celebrity to promote his educational charity GEOTF.org, he also tweets to his fans that “[I] wouldn't say I'm a ‘celebrity.’” Um, Ed, those girls following you down the street probably disagree.
5. He remains friends with ex-fiancee Jillian.
Both Ed and Jillian have spoke about what went wrong with their relationship. And you know, it sounds a lot like what can go wrong in any relationship — you fall in love, rush into commitment and then realize you don’t know the person as well as you thought. It happens to the best of us. While Ed and Jilly had to endure their breakup under the public eye (ours is usually done through hugging a body pillow whilst watching Love, Actually on repeat), they have managed to stay friends. She even supports his Bachelor Pad 3 stint in her blog “... this is a really cool opportunity for him and I'm proud of him. Who knows- he might even meet someone extra special!"
