Should Kate Beckett’s Therapist Return to Castle in Season 5?

Some of our favorite scenes from Castle Season 4 took place inside Kate Beckett's therapist's office.

During one of her appointments in Episode 21: "Headhunters," she had an epiphany about Castle's sudden change in behavior. When her therapist, played by Star Trek vet Michael Dorn, suggested that it's what she didn't do that caused Rick to pull away, she finally came to her senses. "What if I waited too long?" she asked.

It's not often that we're privy to the innermost thoughts of Castle's enigmatic muse, but thanks to these telling therapy sessions, we feel like we've gained greater insight — especially in regards to her feelings for Rick. And although she's made significant progress, the healing process is far from over.

So can we expect Kate to return to Dr. Burke in Season 5? Unfortunately, Michael is as much in the dark as we are.

"I think they’ve shot seven or eight episodes already and I haven’t heard from them," he dished in a recent interview with StarTrek.com. "The door is always open, but I’m not sure if I’ll hear from them again."

And that's OK with Michael, who believes that the therapist storyline may have run its course.

"It’s a great idea, the psychiatrist thing. It’s a nice little respite from what they were doing, but that’s not what their show is about," he added.

What do you guys think? Should Michael Dorn return as Dr. Burke in Season 5?
