Carole Radziwill Doesn’t Care About Aviva Drescher’s Fancy Resume, Quite Frankly
Of all the regrettable and downright confusing things that Aviva Drescher said on The Real Housewives of New YorkSeason 5, Episode 14: “Slutty Island,” one of her mini-speeches included her listing how many degrees she has, where she went to school, and how many languages she speaks.
Coming on the heels of the “white trash” insult, Aviva seemed to be asserting just how far above “white trash,” ie Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan, she is. “I went to Vassar, I went to law school, I speak three languages, I understood everything that was said,” Aviva said during the episode, referring to Ramona and Sonja.
As soon as we saw it happen on the show, Aviva apologized for her borderline-bragging by tweeting, “I admit it was overkill 2 list a resume when speaking english is enough in this case.”
Carole Radziwill, who mostly stayed clear of the many fights throughout the episode, spoke out about Aviva’s somewhat elitist name- and degree-dropping.
“Some of the smartest people I know never went to Vassar, or even to college.” Carole writes in her Bravo blog. “I’ve met people with enough degrees to paper an entire guest bungalow who have the manners of a jackal.” But Carole did make sure to point out that Aviva’s “vulgar and inelegant” use of the “white trash” phrase “isn’t like Aviva.”
On one hand, Aviva was clearly in a very anxious place while filming, having just gotten off a tiny plane. Then again, one could argue that we finally saw her true colors. Would you forgive Aviva’s comments if you were Ramonja?
The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
