Chris Harrison on 2013 Bachelor Decision: We Can’t Just Go on Popularity
It's like waiting for a birth. Any day now, any minute now, ABC will decide — and hopefully announce — who will be the next Bachelor. (At least we know it's a boy!)
They start shooting Season 17 later this month, as show creator Mike Fleiss has already tweeted, and last night he added, "My hunch is that we will hear something tomorrow..." He's shared too many teases like this for us to really get our hopes up. But still...
Rosemaster Chris Harrison further confirmed to RumorFix that the Bachelor name will be decided soon. “We have narrowed it down considerably,” Chris says. “So it is very imminent it, and will happen any day now.”
“Guys from last season’s show are definitely in the running," Chris adds of Bachelorette Emily Maynard’s top two ex-boyfriends. "Arie Luyendyk, Sean Lowe. And even Roberto Martinez was in the mix.” Was, you note.
Sadly, Chris said even Olympic flavor of last month Ryan Lochte has been discussed, along with people "nobody has met before." He says it's never just been down to one or two people and, he adds, cryptically, “We can’t just go on public emotion or popularity. In the end, we need a guy who is extremely sincere, open, and wants this to work.”
Why can't they go on public emotion or popularity for that, if there are good guys from past seasons that fans care about? Or was he saying that as a good reason for why Ryan Lochte's name was removed, despite his burst of public acclaim after the Olympics?
