Glee Season 4: Blaine and [Spoiler] Are Getting Closer!
A new season of Glee is about to bring a new and unlikely friendship. Start getting ready now, because it’s time to hop onboard Team Blam.
Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Blaine (Darren Criss) have never been particularly close, but with now that each of their significant others having left the choir room, these two guys will start to really hit it off. Glee creator Ryan Murphy teased the friendship with his tweet, “Blaine and Sam. #straightsandgayscanbebestbuds” Yes, they certainly can — and we can’t wait!
On the surface, Sam and Blaine don’t seem to have too many common interests — other than a love of belting out pop tunes — so it’s hard to imagine what they’ll be doing together in their free time. Maybe Sam will be teaching Blaine how to do a Matthew McConaughey impression? (Uh, let’s hope not.)
And this won’t be the only big change for Sam this season. Glee producer Brad Falchuk tells TV Line that Sam will become a lot more integral to New Directions success. “It’s nice having him be, in terms of the guys there in the choir room, the male lead right now,” Brad says. So does this mean will be getting a few more Sam songs? It’s about freakin’ time!
Brad says that it took a bit of time for the show’s writers to figure out what to do with Sam, but now they’re excited about the character’s direction. “Toward the end of last season we got how to write for [Chord] and [who] the Sam character was,” Brad says. What makes Sam special is that “he has a very specific innocence to him,” according to Brad. Who knew that male strippers could still be considered innocent?
