The 12 Craziest VMA Moments You Didn’t See on TV (VIDEO)
Behind-the-scenes drama alert!
As many surprises as there were in last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, there were even more eye-popping moments that the TV audience didn't see. Luckily, we have the scoop on what MTV's cameras missed!
Chris & Rihanna’s XOXO
The biggest off-screen shock happened when Rihanna kissed and hugged Chris Brown as she walked offstage after winning a Moonman for Video of the Year. (Mind you, it was a very quick kiss...)
But Nicki Doesn’t Share the Rihanna Love
Nicki Minaj told Rihanna to “sit the f—k down” when Rihanna tried to hug her following Nicki’s win for Best Female Video... that is, if a tweet from Real World alum Trishelle Cannatella can be believed.
Katy Perry almost killed an astronaut! The songstress nearly dropped the Moonman trophy as she passed it to the lads in One Direction. She saved it from hitting the floor, but the silver rocketeer later lost his flag. (Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown also had trouble keeping the flag attached!)
Was the fumble a result of her being starstruck? She might be a mega-fan, since she sang right along when the British boys took to the stage to perform “One Thing.” (She was seated right next to Rihanna, so we wonder if Katy was a little too “Loud” for RiRi!)
One Direction Fever
One Direction’s Harry Styles and Louis Stevenson had some aggressive fans — Louis even had to pry his hand out of one girl’s grasp!
But it sounds like the 1D blokes are fans of each other, too, because — bromance alert! — they gave each other congratulatory butt-pats after taking the stage.
The guys also danced to The Wanted’s song. So either they were dancing ironically, or there’s no rivalry between these British boy bands.
Lil Wayne tuned out many of the performances, choosing to listen to his tailor-made pair of Beats headphones instead. Diss!
And even more celebs ignored Taylor Swift. Many A-listers in the attendance beat a hasty retreat as the awards show was closing, totally disregarding the country star’s performance of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
RuPaul — who showed up not in drag — gave some hosting tips to Joan Smalls, one of the two recently announced MTV House of Style emcees.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower co-stars Emma Watson and Ezra Miller stayed to rock out after introducing Green Day.
Pink had to report to stage super-early for her performance of “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” So the punky pop star just popped a squat on stage and waited. But her performance was a hit, and — fun fact! — the confetti that rained down on the audience was lip-shaped.
