Topless Photos of Kate Middleton Published: Royals May Sue Over “Grotesque” Privacy Breach
Jeez. It's OK if we don't immediately confirm if Kate Middleton's pregnant, guys. No need to storm the castle or use a long lens to get shots of her naked body.
But that seems to be what just happened. A French publication called Closer printed pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge that show her topless while on holiday at the French chateau owned by the queen's nephew. According to the BBC, there are four pages of photos of the Duke and Duchess (Wills and Kate), with Kate topless in several images.
A spokesman for the Prince of Wales office said the Duke and Duchess "have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner. The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so."
The royals are reportedly consulting with lawyers to consider what legal options they may have against the publication.
When Prince Harry got naked in Vegas, some considered it just a guy having fun while others called it a reckless embarrassment for the royal family. This incident is less embarrassing than infuriating for Kate and Wills — since she didn't exactly invite strangers into the chateau, where they took pics of her with camera phone then spread them around. This is like some creepy guy way down the street using a zoom lens to watch you sunbathe in your pool, then sharing the pics with the world.
