Ben Affleck Admits to Not Being Present at Home, Says Jennifer Garner “Does Everything”
Ben Affleck may be an Oscar-winning screenwriter, A-list actor, and critically acclaimed director, but he’s also the father of three small children — Violet (6), Seraphina (3), and Samuel (7 months) — with his superstar wife Jennifer Garner. Turns out juggling his career and his family is as hard as it sounds — and, according to an interview in Details, his career often wins.
He revealed to the magazine, “I'm not very present in the rest of my life. My wife's very patient. She does everything. If I have time, I try to spend time with the kids, even if just to be a physical presence, the bath, whatever.”
So how does he choose when it’s time to work or time to bathe the kiddies? He explains, “Now everything has to compete with being with my family.” He then confesses, “I don't want to be a stay-at-home dad. Work is very important to me. I like to work. So does my wife. But I need my work to mean something to me in order for me to not be home with them.”
Considering the praise and profits Ben’s string of dramatic films have drawn in the past few years, it looks like his work is meaningful — but if he’d been missing out on family time to film Gigli 2? Unforgivable!
