Grey’s Anatomy Season 9: Why Haven’t There Been Any Sneak Peeks of the New Season?

The Grey's Anatomy Powers That Be are always pretty strict about spoilers, but for Season 9 they've kicked the security level up a notch.

Many fans have noticed that although the season is premiering soon (September 27), there haven't been any sneak peeks, and even the promos haven't included new scenes from the season.

It turns out that's not a mistake.

Recently, showrunner Shonda Rhimes tweeted at a fan who complained about the lack of new footage, saying that it's "Not happening this year. You have to for the premiere to see it...," adding "oops — forgot the word 'wait' in that last tweet. Wait for the premiere..."

It's also worth noting that ABC hasn't — at least as of now — released a screener for critics. They must really want to keep the post-crash Grey's world a secret! We're guessing this is because their devotion to keeping the details of Eric Dane's (Mark Sloan) departure, as well as Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) fate, under lock and key.

No wonder Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) got in trouble for accidentally tweeting a spoiler pic!

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 will premiere on Thursday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
