Jessica Alba Opens Up About Juggling Family, Philanthropy, and Working Out
Jessica Alba may have killer style, a beautiful family, and her philanthropic organization, The Honest Company, but she’s the first to admit that juggling them all is a challenge.
“I don’t know if I do any of it really well,” Jessica admitted to reporters at SELF Magazine’s 5th Annual Women Doing Good Awards on Sept. 12 in New York City. “I just know that I try the hardest to do the best that I can.”
And something else she and husband Cash Warren are juggling is their democratic support; in fact, President Barack Obama just gained two new celebrity endorsements: Honor and Haven Warren, their two daughters.
“I just think it’s important for our girls to see Cash and I participate in democracy and to really stand up for what we believe in,” she said. “And if they grow up with that and know that their whole life, they’ll just be more thoughtful and better-informed citizens.”
But even though she guides her daughters onto the right paths, they still manage to surprise her — Honor recently picked up a surprising new word!
“She says ‘hot,’ like if she touches things, she’ll say ‘hot!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, OK!’” Jessica said with a laugh.
“Hot” is usually used in a different context when it comes to Jessica, but prepping her rockin’ body for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is not the first thing in her agenda. When asked about how she will get in shape, she admitted that she doesn’t have a game plan yet.
“It’s really not that organized … I’m not terribly organized yet,” she said with a shrug. “I could do without all [the trainers]!”
So for now, her focus is on her kids, who teach her “every single day.”
“[They’ve taught me] patience and love,” Jess said. “I never even thought I had the capacity to love like that before, and experience that much joy and how to have fun and not take myself so seriously.”
