Queen Supports Kate Middleton in Topless Scandal — Not That She Would’ve Supported Fergie
The same rules do not apply to all.
Kate Middleton — aka the Duchess of Cambridge — is special. She has yet to take a public misstep since marrying Prince William. Even without the title, she has truly adopted William’s mother’s role as The People’s Princess. And while Donald Trump may blame her for her topless photo "scandal," the royals are firmly behind her.
A palace source told People that William's dad, Prince Charles, and grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II are “most definitely supporting” Will and Kate.
Not that everyone in the royal world would get Kate's full support like this. Like, if this happened to Sarah Ferguson, ex-wife of Prince Andrew, all bets would be off.
"If this were Fergie, [the Queen] would be livid," Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana's former bodyguard told People. "But this is top-drawer royalty: a favorite grandson and his beautiful wife. They live in another world."
Plus, Fergie was kind of controversy-prone in general, whereas Kate has had smooth sailing pretty much since she met Will back in college. She’s their dream girl. But do you think Prince Harry is miffed that he got tsk tsks and eye rolls for his Vegas antics but Kate gets shocked outrage on her behalf? Or is the situation 100 percent different since he invited people into his hotel room and her shots were taken by strangers from far away? Plus, he’s Harry and he just does things like that and Kate is … Kate. She’s the princess.
