Last week, Maks was quoted in a New York Post interview about his plans to leave DWTS. “With nothing but love, gratitude and respect to all that played a part in that amazing aspect of my life,”Maks tweeted, linking to a story called"Mad Maks quits."
The story said Maks would not return to DWTS after his current contract expired at the end of next year. “What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons?” he told The Post. “It makes total sense. The audience can’t expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can’t expect for me to want to stick around.”
The “15 seasons” part, and the fact that he was speaking with such finality about it now, led many fans to believe Maks was quitting after dancing Season 15 All-Stars with Kirstie Alley. Maks’ rep clarified that Maks actually has two more seasons on his contract after All-Stars, so he was just giving a full year’s notice and explaining his plans for after the show.
Backstage after he won his Best Reality TV Host Emmy, Tom further clarified that Maks isn’t leaving the ballroom anytime soon. “He said that it was taken out of context,” Tom told ABC News. “At the end of his contract, which runs through two more seasons, he’s thinking of pursuing acting. … He’s going to be with us beyond this season.”
But isn’t it strange to talk about not wanting to stick around for more, when he has a year left on his contract? Why even go there? Are you happy to know Maks will be around for DWTS Season 16 and 17 or are you just confused now?
