We couldn't take our eyes off of Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion during last night's Season 5 premiere, thanks largely in part to costume designer Luke Reichle, who outfitted them in some seriously kickass outfits.
Luke hopped on Twitter during the episode to let fans in on his style secrets. But first, he kicked things off by stating the obvious: "So the truth is, no one is going to CARE about the costumes in the first scene," he wrote. Our thoughts exactly!
He also joked about one of the episode's most important costume pieces — Beckett's lacy black bra! "Once it drops it a prop," he said, tongue-in-cheek.
Luke finally got serious when it was time to discuss Beckett's casual grey top from Helmut Lang. "That t-shirt is only hot because of the actress in it," he said, and we couldn't agree more. It hugged in all the right places, showing off Stana's flawless modelesque figure. We don't know anyone else who can make a simple top look that sexy.
In terms of footwear, Luke put Beckett in a pair of boots by Robert Clergerie. Her trench coat at the end is from Burberry, a brand Stana wears often for the role of Kate Beckett. "When are they going to get the picture and make her the face of Burberry?!" Luke wrote. We know, right?
Beckett's tweed and leather jacket from earlier in the episode is from a Beverly Hills boutique called Jami Lyn.
As for the men, Luke outfitted Detective Esposito in John Varvatos while Rick Castle rocked Anto of Beverly Hills. Well, technically Stana did — that was Rick's buttondown shirt Beckett donned in the opening scene.
What did you think of the cast's wardrobe in the Season 5 premiere? We can't wait to see more fabulous coats and blazers — and perhaps some going-out dresses! Date night, anyone? — as the season progresses.
