Glee Season 4 Speculation: Is THIS Finn’s “Shocking” New Plot Twist?

When Glee creator Ryan Murphy tweeted this photo of the New Directions sitting together in the choir room on September 24, our first thought was, “Aww. Isn’t that sweet?”

Then we took a closer look at the photo. And we soon realized that something was definitely off. Sure all of the New Directions are there, including newbies Jake (Jacob Artist), Wade (Alex Newell) and Marley (Melissa Benoist) — but who’s that guy in the fancy black vest standing up in the front?

He’s standing right where Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) should be, but that’s definitely not Mr. Shue! Think about it: His hair is way too dark to even look remotely the same shade as Will’s golden brown locks. So who is this new glee club director, anyway?

Nothing’s been confirmed so far, but we just can’t shake the feeling that this new mystery man just might be none other than our old pal Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith).

We know that Finn is back at McKinley for Episodes 3 and 5, plus Lea Michele has guaranteed that Finn will still be a very large part of Glee this season — and bringing him on as the new Mr. Shue would certainly allow that to be the case.

But what about Will? Glee’s official summary for Season 4, Episode 4: “The Break-Up” warns that Will and Emma (Jayma Mays) are going to disagree over a new job offer. Did Mr. Shue get offered a new teaching position outside of McKinley?

Even if Glee did just hire Finn to be their new Mr. Schue, we still don’t know for sure if it’s a permanent switch, or if Will’s just having him fill in for a few weeks. But in any case, what would you think of the switch?

Would you love the idea of Finn as McKinley’s new glee club director? And do you think this just might be the mysterious Finn storyline that Lea Michele said will leave fans “shocked and amazed”? We’re totally up for it — just as long as he doesn’t try to make McKinley’s newest athlete, Ryder (Blake Jenner), join the New Directions by planting marijuana in his locker.

Finn can learn a lot from Mr. Schue’s methods. But that one... we don’t necessarily recommend him copying.
