Could Downton Abbey Come to America?

Fans know that Downton Abbeys Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) hails from the states, and that next season her mother (Shirley MacLaine) pays Downton a visit from her home in Philadelphia. With all this American influence cropping up on the British-based PBS series, how about bringing some Granthams stateside? E! Online reports that the cast very much wants to make their way across the Atlantic eventually.

In an interview at the 2012 Emmys, Michelle Dockery (the feisty Lady Mary) confides, “I think we need to encourage [show creator Julian Fellowes] to write an episode in New York or something like that." New York in the ’20s? We can see the lavish costumes now!

But does she really think Julian would be willing to uproot its cast and crew? Michelle says, "Let's hope, because I'd love that."

Downton America — we really like the sound of that!
