Glee’s Damian McGinty Announces His First Single — Which Popular Band Will He Cover?

All season long, we got to hear Damian McGinty’s charming Irish lilt as he covered favorites from greats like Frank Sinatra on The Glee Project (Season 1). When he won, we were stoked, because we couldn’t wait to hear him join in on Top 40 jams as Rory Flanagan on Glee.

When Damian sang One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” at the Glee prom last season, we died. We sold our big girl clothes, bought prom dresses, tried to build a time machine so we could make it to the dance, and sobbed into shiny violet taffeta when Rory left Ohio to go back to Ireland.

So, you can imagine our joy when we found out that Damian is releasing his first solo album. Adding to our (wait for it) glee? It’s an album of cover songs. No one puts a spin on a classic like Damian, and his first single is going to be just gorgeous (imagine him saying that word. Swoon. Repeat.).

Well, folks, get out your hankies, because the first single Damian is releasing is (drum roll please) “Run,” originally made famous by Snow Patrol. The single is going to be released on October 1st. We’re already digging through our closets for the taffeta.
